Dr. Jeff Rogers is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Religion at Furman University. He has served churches in North and South Carolina in staff positions in music, youth, and as a pastor, most recently as senior minister of the First Baptist Church of Greenville, S.C., from 2001-2011. He has been a guest preacher and teacher in Baptist, Christian (Disciples), Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist, and Presbyterian churches, conferences, workshops, and retreats in Georgia, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Canada.
From 1988-2001, he was a member of the Religion Department at Furman where he also served as Assistant and Associate Academic Dean. The author or editor of six books and dozens of articles in academic journals and standard reference works, he is a former president of the South Carolina Academy of Religion and a member of the Society of Biblical Literature.
He earned a Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ; an M.Div. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.; and a B.A. from North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. He and his wife Bev (married 1977) have four sons, Marshall (22), Graham (19), Heath (13), and Jeremiah (3).
