What is the Worship Service Like?
The 8:45 am worship service is contemporary in nature, allowing for worship songs, prayer, and uplifting opportunities to meet, fellowship, and hear God's word proclaimed. Led by our Praise Team and Band, Interim Pastor Jeff Rogers leads worship with a theme focused, life applicable message.
The 11:00 worship service at First Baptist Church is a multi-generational blended worship experience. Persons from all generations and with a variety of musical backgrounds lead the congregation in singing. Instrumentalists include a pianist, organist, Chancel Choir and regular ensemble groups. Regular children’s moments engage children and adults in the worship theme for the service. The sermons engage people in thinking about the Bible and how it connects to real living. It is our prayer that the 11:00 service offers members and attenders alike the opportunity to experience the love and presence of God.

What Should I Wear?
People come to First Baptist Church in many different styles of attire. Some come in coats, ties and dresses. A few come in jeans and shorts depending on the weather. Most fall somewhere in between weekend casual and business casual. How you dress is about how you feel most comfortable. Regular attenders of First Baptist connect and welcome one another because of relationships, not clothing style or labels. It is our goal to welcome you and help you build friendships at First Baptist, regardless of your clothing choices. You matter to us, not your clothes.

Will You Show Up Unannounced at my Home for a Visit?
We will never visit you at home without your permission. When you attend a worship service or Sunday morning Bible study group at First Baptist, you will have the opportunity to fill out a Welcome card and/or Sunday morning Bible study guest registration form. If you choose to share your information with us, it is the promise of our congregation that we will never simply “show up” at your door. We will write you a letter and contact you by phone or e-mail (whichever you prefer), but we will not interrupt your regular home routine. We want to get to know you, and we will respect your privacy.

How are things on your spiritual journey?
I once heard a friend of mine respond to a particularly difficult day with the phrase, Life Happens. Our lives are in constant motion, and sometimes, we feel like we do not know what is happening. Where are we going? Are we content with our lives? Are we accomplishing things with our lives that really matter? Is there something that makes all of our comings and goings, ups and downs, and questions and ponderings make sense?
On one occasion, Jesus gave his disciples and other listeners (who perhaps were as tired of life happening as we sometimes get) the following invitation: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:28-29 in the Bible).
Real rest, real contentment, real peace, and real purpose: is it really possible? Jesus says it is, and he invites each of us on a journey with him to find out. Where are you on your spiritual journey? Where does God fit into your life? If you would like to talk about these, or any other spiritual questions, I hope you will e-mail one of the ministers on our staff, check out a worship service, or join us for a small group Bible study. First Baptist Church is a safe place to ask real spiritual questions. It would be a privilege to get to know you and hear about your spiritual journey.
