"Then He also said to him who invited Him, “When you give a dinner or a supper, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid.  But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind."

We, at the First Baptist Church of Orangeburg Soup Kitchen, are a rag-tag bunch from all walks of life with one thing in common; we love to get together once a week in the joy of serving our Lord and Savior by serving those in need of a hot lunch. We strive to make our lunches a little more than a standard soup kitchen; serving a hot meal on Thursdays at 1:00 pm to anyone in need. Our menu varies from week to week, but our mission, to get the love of Jesus out, stays the same. Our menu has included venison, steak, country -style steak, beef stew, hamburgers, barbecued chicken, fried chicken, chicken strips, barbecued meat and hash, barbecued pork chops, fried pork chops, fried shrimp, fried fish, spaghetti, hot dogs, chilis, and soups with a full compliment of sides. We also have the traditional Christmas and Thanksgiving meals of turkey, ham, and all the fixings.

Our main mission is to minister to those in need in our immediate area, and we believe there is a huge need for home missions in Orangeburg. We strive to spread the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who hath given us a bountiful harvest. Our number of diners varies from week to week depending on the time of the month and schools. During the first of the month, we have been serving about 50 people, whereas at the end of the month we will serve around 90 people.

We have 39 vounteers currently helping in the Soup Kitchen. We want to thank all that have donated their culinary delights, donated food and money, and have donated their time when possible. If you think you can cook, we are always welcoming guest cooks with their specialties. Come enjoy a meal with us as we minister to God's most needy.
